ON FOR '92 LONDON NEW CROSS VENUE FRIDAY PJ HARVEY SWEET JESUS THE MACHINEGUN FEEDBACK FAMILY GOTOWN |
Someone from Fabulous has just turned up, he has a stopwatch out and he's timing the set by SWEET JESUS. He boasts that they're getting security to have NME's reviewer removed from the building tomorrow night (running scared or what?) |
Thankfully, no-one hauls me away from the proceedings. Sweet Jesus do a 'nice' line in post-JAMC, pre-TFC, kind-of-paralles-to-MBV screeeeech. Their boy singer definitely wishes he was a girl singer. That's one high voice, there! He is David Gedge as Shirley Bassey. The strobe flickers, his incongruous feather boa shimmers, and one wonders if we need another band with 'Jesus' in. |
